KISSAMOS-MENIES & HIDDEN BEACHES
Menies: it is located in the Northeast end of the cape of Spatha, and according to archeologists, the ancient city of Diktinna was located in its place. You can still see some ruins of its ancient temple from that period. It is a secluded, pebble beach with deep and blue waters. As it is not affected by the winds in the area, it’s an ideal destination to relax and unwind. Thousands worshippers used to come in the area for the temple of goddess Vritomartis (the Cretan version of goddess Artemis) from all over the island. Vritomartis was worshiped here during the Hellenistic and Roman times. There are still a few remains of the ancient Roman temple.
